Onsite Campground Manager

Are You the Hospitality All-Star We’ve Been Waiting For?

📍 Location: Skands Campground – Christina Lake, British Columbia

🕒 Job Type: Full-time, Seasonal

📅 Period: May 1st to September 30th (flexible start date)

Do you light up when you make someone’s day?

Do you believe small gestures go a long way, and that “welcome” should always feel warm and genuine? If you're an outgoing, detail-loving, problem-solving, campground-operations rockstar, we’ve got the summer job of your dreams.

Skands Campground is looking for a seasonal On-Site Campground Manager (or Managing Couple!) who doesn’t just love the outdoors—they love creating unforgettable experiences for the people who come to enjoy them.

This is not a behind-the-scenes role. We’re looking for someone who thrives on guest interaction, takes pride in being the go-to person on-site, and brings a genuine sense of fun, calm, and community to the job. You’ll become part of the heartbeat of our campground—and part of the Skands family, too.

👉 Bonus: We’re also hiring a cleaner, so this could be a great joint opportunity for a couple.

About Skands Campground:

Skands Campground is a beloved, family-run gem nestled on the shores of Christina Lake, BC—Canada’s warmest tree-lined lake. Nestled between Grand Forks and Castlegar (about a 7-hour scenic drive from Vancouver) in BC’s Kootenay and Boundary region, Skands has been in the same family since 1909 and welcoming campers since 1970.

We offer 120 semi-serviced seasonal sites, including 47 permanents, and three onsite trailer rentals. It’s a place where memories are made, stories are passed down, and traditions live on. Many of our guests first came as kids and now return with their own children and grandchildren.

Our campers are mainly Canadian and U.S. families (plus a few adventurous Europeans), drawn by the easygoing, nostalgic vibe. Think: cannonballs off the dock, kids riding bikes from dawn to dusk, marshmallows by the fire, and friendships that last a lifetime.

At Skands, we’re in the business of making memories for generations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management:
Oversee daily campground operations, including reservations, check-ins/outs, maintenance, and enforcement of campground policies.

Customer Service:
Provide outstanding customer service, address guest inquiries, resolve complaints, and create a welcoming environment.

Financial Management:
Assist with budgeting, track campground revenue and expenses, and manage on-site payments.

Facilities Maintenance:
Regularly inspect campground facilities (trailers, restrooms, common areas) and coordinate necessary repairs and improvements.

Marketing and Promotion:
Promote Skands Campground through advertising, social media, and other marketing channels.

Emergency Preparedness:
Lead responses to emergencies such as severe weather events or medical incidents.

On-Site Manager Guide Development:
Assist in creating a comprehensive on-site manager’s guide detailing day-to-day operations, guidelines, and best practices.

Reporting:
Provide monthly reports to campground owners, including suggestions for improvements in facilities, grounds, customer relations, and marketing strategies.

Who We’re Looking For:

You are:

  • Experienced in tourism or hospitality—this is a must

  • Warm, friendly, and approachable

  • A natural problem solver who handles tricky situations with empathy and ease

  • Good at enforcing rules (like asking for quiet hours) without killing the vibe

  • Great at multitasking and staying organized under pressure

  • Tech-savvy enough to learn the CampSpot reservation system

  • Comfortable working independently and on-site in a busy, public environment

  • A confident communicator, both in-person and over email or text

  • Someone who takes pride in their environment—tidy spaces, welcoming guests, and keeping things running smoothly

  • A valid B.C. driver’s license holder

  • Handy with light maintenance and comfortable coordinating contractors like our cleaners and grounds crew

One last thing…

Campground life is community life. That means everyone knows your name—and what time you had your coffee. 😉 Living on-site is a bit like living in a fishbowl—but the kind with dock dives, friendly waves, and kids riding by on bikes. With a big, vibrant community comes a wide range of personalities (and the occasional conflict), so you'll need to be cool, calm, and confident when navigating tricky conversations. If you're the kind of person who can kindly ask someone to turn down the tunes—and leave them smiling while they do it—you’ll fit right in.

Also worth noting: we’re a dog-friendly campground. That means you’ll cross paths with plenty of four-legged guests—and occasionally have to play poo/bark/leash warden. It’s not glamorous, but it’s all part of keeping Skands clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

Perks & Compensation

  • Private on-site accommodation included

  • Competitive seasonal salary (based on experience)

  • Flexible start date

  • Opportunities to explore mountain biking, hiking, paddling, boating, golf, and pickleball in your off time at Christina Lake

  • Killer sunsets
